Paul Quinzi grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and came to Austin in 1998 to attend the University of Texas School of Law. After graduating from UT, Paul worked as a prosecutor at the Travis County Attorneys Office and later entered private practice. Paul opened up his own law office in 2006, and since then has devoted his practice to clearing the names of the unjustly accused.

Paul has presented his expunction and nondisclosure research in classes to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Travis County Law Library, and the University of Texas Criminal Defense Clinic, among other organizations. He is the founding Pro Bono Partner of the UT School of Law Expunction Clinic, which has helped low-income individuals seek expunction and nondisclosure since 2014.

Paul enjoys spending time with family, playing pinball, and providing pet therapy in Austin with his three basset hounds, Buddy, Betty, and Capone.

My Philosophy

If I am defending you, you aren’t guilty. You are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

While the charges against you may be considered criminal charges, what I’m really defending is your right to be presumed innocent, hence the term “innocence defense.”

I especially think of my practice in the “innocence defense” context when I’m petitioning for an expunction or order of nondisclosure. If you have not been and never will be found guilty of the charges, you are—and will always be—legally innocent. By petitioning the government to either destroy or seal any records they have, I defend your innocence against those who could hear about your arrest and assume the worst.
